I am still shocked that she made that gaffe…. I almost wonder if it was intentional… coded…. seriously, the Jesse Jackson won SC comment and now this…. she and Bill are too smart to say things this stupid….

Of course it is coded and intentional. If not Hillary, then Bill should have known better than to insist on going down this path. But they were consistent throughout the campaign that race must be a part of the campaign. Bill thought that other demographics would abandon Sen. Barack Obama if he becomes “the black candidate,” rather than a candidate who happens to be black.

They intentionally sacrificed South Carolina to that strategy and continued pushing it. Bill Clinton knows this country better than anyone and he knows how race plays better than anyone. That’s how he could execute Billy Ray Rector, do his sister souljah moment with Jesse Jackson, accomplish almost nothing for African Americans as president, yet emerge as a beloved, favorite son of African Americans, the so-called “first black president.”

Bill knows he and Hillary would be forgiven by African Americans, Democrats and the nation for these racialized tactics and strategies, if Hillary won. What shocked me was that they would use race so late in the day, when the outcome, by every measure, was no longer in doubt.
